About Thomas Whitaker
Former CIA Records Officer · Archivist of Project NSR-47 · Founder of Medai Wellness
I spent thirty-one years as a Records Officer for Special Access Programs at the Central Intelligence Agency. My job was to archive material that most people will never know existed — classified research, compartmented programs, and operational protocols developed during the Cold War that never saw the light of day. Among those files was Project NSR-47.
When I retired, I made a decision that changed the course of my life. I declassified it. Not through official channels — through the Freedom of Information Act and persistent legal work that took nearly four years. The documents are real. The science is real. And I believe the public deserves access to what their tax dollars funded.
Why I Created Medai Wellness
After declassifying the NSR-47 files, I had a stack of paper describing a protocol that could change how millions of people experience anxiety. But documents alone do not help anyone. I created Medai Wellness to translate this research into practical tools — guided audio missions based on the exact breathing ratios and sequences documented in the 1987 research.
Every product we offer is rooted in the original NSR-47 science, updated with modern peer-reviewed research where appropriate. We do not make medical claims. We do not sell false hope. We provide a mechanical, physiologically-grounded method for nervous system regulation — and we let the results speak for themselves.
My Commitment to Transparency
I continue to publish declassified documents, research summaries, and evidence-based articles on this site. The blog exists to educate, not to sell. If you want to understand how your nervous system works and what you can do to regulate it, the information is here — free of charge, free of hype, and free of obligation.
